VTOL Drone Bangladesh Community
The VTOL Drone Bangladesh Community is a collaboration-focused platform dedicated to electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (e-VTOL) drones. Our goal is to design and build drones that can transport goods—and in the future, passengers—across cities, villages and hard-to-reach areas.
Powered by the wider DhumketuX ecosystem, we bring together engineers, students, makers and innovators who believe that Bangladesh can become a leader in e-VTOL and future air mobility.
About VTOL Drone Bangladesh Community
The VTOL Drone Bangladesh Community is a hub for people passionate about electric VTOL, drone engineering and future air mobility. We connect enthusiasts, engineers and innovators who want to work on long-term, serious projects instead of one-time demos.
Our focus is not just on flying for fun. We explore how e-VTOL drones can solve real problems in logistics, emergency response, medical supply delivery and, in future, personal mobility—all designed and built from Bangladesh.
Why e-VTOL for Bangladesh?
- Bypass traffic & terrain – Fly over congestion, floods and broken roads.
- Serve rural & remote areas – Deliver critical supplies where vehicles cannot easily go.
- Reduce emissions – Electric VTOL platforms support cleaner, quieter transport.
- Build high-value skills – Aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, batteries, avionics and autonomy.
SkyBlade Xero – Bangladesh’s First Manned VTOL Drone Project
SkyBlade Xero is a pioneering initiative to build Bangladesh’s first manned VTOL drone. It is designed as a single-seater, open-source, crowd-funded e-VTOL platform that demonstrates safe and practical personal aerial mobility.
Inspired by global projects like the Jetson electric “flying car”, SkyBlade Xero follows a clear, staged roadmap:
- Step Zero: Design and build a demonstrator manned lifting drone.
- Step One: Develop a fully functional prototype with a refined, elegant design and safety-first engineering.
SkyBlade Xero – Key Characteristics
- Crew: Single-seater
- Length: ~3.5 m
- Empty Weight: 120+ kg
- Gross Weight: ~200 kg
- Max Speed (Target): ~80 km/h
- Cruise Speed (Target): ~60 km/h
Project Goals & Future Prospects
- Prototype Completion: Build a safe, efficient and maintainable single-seater VTOL prototype.
- Community Collaboration: Work closely with universities, research clubs and enthusiasts.
- Open-Source Contribution: Share non-sensitive design insights, data and algorithms.
- Crowdfunding & Outreach: Engage the public through transparent updates and events.
- Next Steps: Use SkyBlade Xero learnings to scale up to multi-passenger concepts such as SkyBlade X4.
